The most important prerequisite for the rest of this essay is understanding that Liberalism requires popular consent to exist. Neoliberalism is primarily concerned with the maintenance of this consent. Whereas 1980’s Liberal America was able to adopt a (mostly) laissez-faire attitude towards the population’s beliefs, 2010-onward Neoliberalism does not have that luxury. Liberalism is verging on a total loss of the “Mandate of Heaven” so to speak.
This has forced a strange combination of bedfellows: The academics and media which were once horrified at the actions of America’s Trotskyist intelligence agencies were forced to at least passively allow them to manipulate the American people’s public conscious. This was not a decision that was made by some officeholder, rather, this was a “vibe”. When America’s enemy shifted from being naughty Socialist governments in third-world countries to “White Nationalism” at home, suddenly almost action became justified. Thus manufacturing Liberalism’s necessary consent no longer seemed immoral at all. Alex Karp of Palantir had a bit of a mask off moment in February of this year, declaring that his company’s surveillance technology was “the only reason why someone's not goose-stepping between me and you”. Maybe data-mining isn’t so bad after all right guys? While Mr. Karp was really just trying to sell his product, he’s actually not far from the truth: without the extensive monitoring network provided by the alliance of technology companies and security services populism would likely rising even faster.
Neoliberalism is unable to fix its failures; they are inherent to its system. Therefore they must be disguised or blamed on another factor at every turn. Doing so requires the most sophisticated propaganda and disinformation network in the history of mankind— even the Soviets would be jealous. This network is not managed or ordered necessarily, a lot of it is spontaneous. However, other aspects really are a schizo’s wet dream: intelligence agencies, media manipulation, literal academic agents, etc. Today’s essay I’ll be skimming the surface of this topic and explaining why this makes our entire world run worse.
Operator 1: The Brains
Today’s academia is a joke. We all know this, I talk about it pretty regularly here. However, we have to understand why it is a joke, because the system is not broken, it just isn’t intended to do what you think it is.
The purpose of academia is to tell everyone what to think. Accuracy of information matters just slightly less than the morality of this information, this is why there are no differences between human subpopulations and we all came from Africa. Denying the “Out of Africa” theory just gives weird racial vibes man. Sure the theory makes no sense given our new knowledge on the subject, but it’s still the Truth.
As a result of the transition from Academy to Cathedral, a university must now be so administratively top-heavy that its staff looks like an upside-down pyramid. This makes research, teaching, recruiting, etc. less efficient and ensures that tuition costs can’t really afford to come down much. But once again, these are secondary concerns in comparison to Truth-telling, and Truth-telling requires as much restriction on the actual intellectual effort as possible.
Operator 2: The Mouth
The media networks have been exposed for what they are over the past ten years, if there’s one thing to thank the Donald for it’s this. However, alternative news sources have not replaced them as far as institutional trust, so these networks unfortunately still matter. If you watched someone else on the election night they were streaming one of the mainstream networks, if you watched no one then good for you.
These networks run in a similar vein to academia: editors will make sure that even if the network were to hire an honest journalist, (oxymoron), a story which contradicts the other major networks will never get through. Whereas a Walter Cronkite would have taken pride in breaking a story contradicting the other networks, now they are far too risk averse. Academia also ensures that anyone graduating with a journalism degree, (which should be an oxymoron), is either a Truth teller or a really dedicated undercover agent. The Truth tellers who perform poorly are then sent to either Fox or one of its subcompanies.
The major networks are also run to by boards please their shareholders, so there isn’t much incentive to be the “most trustworthy” if you can instead avoid breaking the mold in any particular direction. Unfortunately for these shareholders, Rachel Maddow just can’t help herself.
Operator 3: The Voice
Wherever you get your news, (most likely Twitter), it comes from one of these networks 90% of the time. As a result, your social media feed originates from one of two perspectives: The media is correct or the media is lying. The first is correct the vast majority of the time, the second is correct when it matters. Because of this, you look like a fool to walk around talking about how the media lies all the time, which makes the Truth tellers look even better to those who listen to them.
The social media platforms ensure that those who disagree with the Truth tellers too vehemently are removed as Liars via disinformation restrictions. Part of this is the fault of the EU, (a subject which I intend to return to later), but these networks also restrict content which has yet to be banned in the EU. Most of these tech companies are owned or operated by True Believers, so they don’t exactly have to be coerced into restricting content in this manner.
The most immediate outcome of this is that social media platforms and search engines just fucking suck now. Do you guys remember when you could find stuff on Google, because I do. Now the first two pages of results are exclusively mainstream news stories and the next two are reddit and quora posts. Social media platforms feed you the same regurgitated nonsense content because they’re designed to present the most moderate political content first, and everyone on Youtube or Spotify says shit like “unalived” or “SA’d” which makes me want to “unalive” them with a hammer.
The second outcome of this is that what is seen on most platforms is a “moderate”, (read progressive), perspective on everything from all of your cool internet friends with whom you’ve built a parasocial relationship. The people are a woman; if everyone else thinks it most don’t want to be outliers. But of course the clever Liars have been subverting these algorithms for years, making sure that little voice of dissent gets a happy merchant through every so often. This gets me to the final operator in the network:
Operator 4: The Arms
The security state and/or “Spook” state is directly complicit in astroturfing campaigns worldwide. What you thought only Russia did this? These campaigns utilize both real agents behind a computer and bots to portray popular consent even where it does not exist. Arab Spring is probably the best example, although perhaps Kiev 2014 is more relevant today. These actions ensure that even when no one buys a myth formulated in the Brain and spoken through the Mouth, the Voice can be altered to speak the Truth.
It could go without saying, but this is much more severe in places like the UK. Being a Liar is worse than being a rapist. Being a Liar is worse than being a pedophile. Being a Liar is directly antithetical to Neoliberalism, and this makes you a threat to Our Democracy. Our Democracy is sacred, so this amounts to blasphemy which is the worst thing you can do.
The Spook State also runs accounts on the opposition. If you ever run into a guy that just rants in your comments about how you’re a race traitor and love the small hat people, you’ve found one. A good way to tell is when they have five essays which are all 1 minute reads written by an inferior version of Chat GPT. Typically I just repost these with the label of “from the same IP”, or “straight out of Eglin”. I digress. The point is that if you face attacks from someone illiterate with the happy merchant for a pfp, you might be getting baited in by the Bad People. Most of us are intelligent or at least funny, the bots are not.
This extends to to other subjects
It’s not just information warfare you’re up against. Your health is being squeezed in the same manner, by some of the same people. There really is a war against masculinity and you’re barely making a comeback. However, the purpose of this essay is only to discuss information warfare, it would be far too lengthy to delve into everything. I will be revisiting most of what I’ve discussed here in more depth, but for now I wanted to give you a light dose of the schizo-pill so that the next few will go down easier.
As a result of this unholy alliance between the Cathedral and the Spooks, your best scholars are falsifying information and manipulating data, which is given to a news cycle hell bent on pushing a narrative, which is read on social media platforms that censor and promote on a whim which are monitored by security services. Insanity.
Well written. The sins of centralization, in this case within our information ecosystem, are legion...
Are we sure Elgin is the place? This is what I got from the chatbots, which of course could be PSYOP (MISO) info itself:
